Disneyland 16

This time I tried to use a different technique, with a somewhat scketchy look, inspired by the old illustrative souvenir maps sold in Disneyland. As my latest works show, I have a deep preference for the Hong Kong layout, which is compact, however it allows the three "lands" to be bigger.

The lands are very different and specific to each one's theme:

Main Street has its traditional Victorian theme, with elements from Disneyland Paris and Hong Kong Disneyland.

The theme of Adventureland is "simply" the jungle, instead of various exotic locations around the globe. Of course, there is room for different interpretations of this theme - The "Jungle Cruise" has an explorer look & feel; "Festival of Lion King" and "Tarzan's Treehouse" represent the African jungles; "Liki Tikis" and "Tahitian Terrace", the jungles of Polynesia; the pirate section is much more natural and wild than colonial, featuring lots of caves, trails, water and tropical vegetation; Southeast Asian ruins emerge from the jungle in "Indiana Jones and the Lost Temple"; and the "Mystic Manor" is an eccentric and mysterious mansion built in the middle of the jungle.

Fantasyland has its classic fairytale/storybook theme, mixing storybook-inspired architecture and "magical" always-spring landscape. Its sections represent a medieval court, the circus, the Fantasy Forest, Wonderland and an Alpine village.

Finally, Tomorrowland has another specific yet simple theme: space fantasy. Other worldly landscape, space ships, rockets, organic and whimsical architecture, vivid bright colors and special light effects. Instead of being focused on realistic futurism or retro-futurism, this time the theme here relies purely on science fiction, adventures throughout the space, friendly aliens and robots. Everything from Buzz Lightyear to Star Wars to Avatar.
